Alex (19), riding the bike of team-mate Dave Wood, amazed everyone by reaching second place on the grid just behind big gun Jeremy Mcwilliams, despite missing five laps with a clutch problem! The race didn't work out as planned as Gault was knocked onto the grass on the first lap by another rider, before rejoining in 14th position. A determined performance in the inagural XR1200 championship event, which supports The British Superbike Championship, saw Gault make it up to sixth place and even having a go at fourth which again put him on the grass. For his performance Gault was named Harley Davidson UK man of the meeting. Stratstone Racing Team manger Martin Mcillwaine said: "Alex showed a lot of courage coming back as strong after that crash and his performance this weekend has shown he will be a front runner in this championship."
