Frankie Murphy wins gold at British International Karate Championships
Frankie Murphy (21), of Gillbank Avenue, Carluke, triumphed for Scotland in the minus 60kg class at the Kelvin Hall, at a tournament entered by top opposition from the home countries, Australia, Algeria, Egypt, Holland, France, Germany and Azerbaijan.
The talented youngster, who does three weekly shifts at the Crown Inn, showed that he's a 'glass act' with victories against Egyptian and English opponents.

Hide Ad"The final was a bit of a grudge match as it was Scotland against England," said black belt second dan Frankie, who is coached by Robert Frame at Carluke's Tokui Ryu Karate Club.
"So I was delighted that I eventually managed to beat the guy 2-1 after four minutes of action.
"It was my second win against him in a year, having beaten him in sudden death in the first round of the 2009 British Nationals at Meadowbank Stadium in Edinburgh."
