TRIATHLON world champion Kirsty McWilliam, who has just left Kilsyth Academy, has been congratulated in the Scottish Parliament.
The 18-year-old won the triathlon junior world championship in Vancouver, just weeks after she won silver in the ETU European Triathlon Championships in Lisbon.

Margaret Mitchell, Scottish Conservative and Unionist List MSP for Central Scotland, asked the Parliament to congratulate Kirsty, and that it 'acknowledges this great achievement and the hard work and training that Kirsty and the rest of the Great British team put in; applauds the dedication and talent that Kirsty has shown, and hopes that she will inspire other young people to take part in sport and engage in healthier lifestyles, and wishes Kirsty all the success for the future and looks forward to following her career with interest."
