ON Friday, 24 pupils from Condorrat Primary School were presented with the Junior Badminton Shuttle Awards in association with the Bank of Scotland and the governing body Badminton Scotland.
Over a period of four months at the school badminton club, under the supervision and guidance of teacher Mrs Jill Cameron, the eager young players completed the course.

The young badminton players passed the bronze grade of the award where all players are issued with an individual task card on which there are a series of badminton training tasks, as well as items involving sportsmanship, warm-ups, etc. On completion of all tasks players are awarded a Bronze Certificate and a Bronze Keyring in the shape of a badminton shuttlecock. They will now progress on to the Silver Award Scheme in September.

Condorrat Primary School is the first to complete this award scheme in Scotland and are leading the way by example.

David Johnston, badminton co-ordinator for North Lanarkshire Leisure Trust, was invited along to present the awards and wishes to congratulate all the pupils and the staff at the school on this achievement.
