Condorrat horse row continues
Last month we reported how irate members of Cumbernauld Rugby Club had become embroiled in a row over riders using their pitch.
It was claimed that this was ruining the expensively maintained turf and that the horsemen and women were failing to clean up after their animals. Their actions were also contravention of the Land Reform (Scotland) Act which forbids access onto sports fields.

Hide AdNow a fresh row has erupted after the telltale of horse droppings were found in plentiful supply in two key locations.
They are to the rear of both Condorrat Primary School and Main Road itself.
Disgusted resident John Burke said: “It was bad enough to see this near a school but they have made a mess of the streets where the shops are.
“Everyone is talking about it. It was terrible on Sunday morning when a lot of people were trying to get to church,’’

We discussed the matter with North Lanarkshire Council who revealed that spot fines on fouling apply to dogs only.
A spokesman confirmed: “We have no powers under legislation to take action or levy fines over horse droppings.
“Generally, if for example there were difficulties caused by nearby stables, we would ask the premises or horse owners to clear up after them.
“But it would be neighbourly for the riders to clear up their animals’ messes,’’ he added.
