POP music and pirate fan Kyle Benton is appealing to Cumbernauld and Kilsyth businesses and individuals for donations to help raise money for special equipment he needs.
Seven-year-old Kyle, of High Barrwood Road, Kilsyth, is shown below – looking very stylish – alongside mum Joanne (34), dad Martin (45) and his equally trendy twin brother Calvin, left, and three-year-old wee brother Brodie.
The appeal states: "Hello, my name is Kyle and I really need your help. Let me tell you a bit about me. My twin brother Calvin and I were born on September 14 2000.
"My Mum and Dad were over the moon, as we were premature but perfect in all ways. Unfortunately, when I was only 15 days old I developed meningitis which has left me with BIG health problems.
"I have cerebral palsy and can't see very much as I'm partially sighted. I need someone to care for me 24 hours a day because I can't do anything for myself.
"I was really lucky to go to Craighalbert for six years and have moved to the Edinburgh Royal Blind School.
"It's fantastic and I've made lots of friends there - I even have a girlfriend called Jessica.
"My favourite times are when I'm with my family and they have a caravan that they have kitted out to help me. I love to listen to music and get really excited when I hear Girls Aloud and the Sugababes!
"Over the past year I have been having fits and last month they diagnosed that I have a condition called epilepsy which makes me feel really unwell. I also have a problem with choking and sometimes with breathing.
"To make my life better I need a few things so I need your help. They include a walker to help me stand and give me independence to walk, a tumble forms chair which is a comfy seat and makes sitting up a pleasure, and a three-wheeled trike specially adapted for me at school.
"I also need switches for my computer at home and school, and a monitor alarm for when I take fits, so that my mum and dad know that I'm needing my medicine."
The total cost of this equipment is £4000, and Joanne and Martin are to hold race nights to help pay for these things. If you can donate anything, call Kyle's auntie Rosann (40) of Roadside, Cumbernauld Village, on 07748 537 620.
