IF you know what made road tragedy victim Gareth Hopkins cross the busy A80 - please tell the police.
That is the renewed plea from the teenager's mother Shona who says his family need to know exactly what happened on the night of Saturday, May 31.

Gareth (17) was knocked down and died at the scene close to the Auchenkilns Interchange.

Gareth,
(pictured) from Lenzie, had been at a 21st birthday party in the Weavers Inn pub in Condorrat. It is believed he may have been running from a group of youths at the time.

Mum Shona, 43, said: "The last time I saw Gareth was the night he went to the party. I can't believe we won't see him again.

"We just want to know what happened that made him have to cross the road.

"He didn't know many people at the party and wasn't sure of the area. We know he was chased and we would like anyone with information to contact police."

Gareth had just completed his first year as an apprentice electrician.
Repeating his previous plea for information, Sergeant Alistair Lewis, of the road policing department at Motherwell, said: "I would appeal to anyone with information that may assist police enquiries, and who has not yet come forward, to contact my office on 01698 483124."
