A SIX year old boy who was caught up in a terrifying E-Coli drama with his baby sister last month has been deemed well enough to return to school.
As we reported last month Dylan Whiteside (6) and his 10-month old sister Kayleigh were rushed to a specialist unit at Glasgow's Yorkhill Hospital where they faced round-the-clock monitoring from microbiologists.

They feared that both children mig
ht succumb to kidney failure - as they had picked up the potentially lethal strain of the virus, known as E-Coli 0157.

Last week, the specialists told Dylan's mum Yvette Connor that test results were drawing the consistently negative results that would enable him to return to Abronhill Primary School on Monday - for the first time this session. He is now settling into his routine at P2.

Yvette who lives in Hornbeam Road told the News: "Obviously I am very relieved. This experience has seemed like a lifetime. It was very, very frightening.

"Dylan withdrew into himself quite badly - and wouldn't even respond when a nurse put a Playstation in his room.

"He is just at the stage now where he wants to see his pals again," said Yvette.

Little Kayleigh was not as badly affected as Dylan but remains unsettled by the experience.

"She can get a bit grumpy at times but the main thing is that she is fine," said Yvette.
