POLICE investigating the tragic Kildrum bridge fall - which killed mum Donna Lennox - are continuing their appeal for information.
And they are still waiting for a specific witness to come forward to help shed light on what happened.

Officers say they do not currently believe there are any suspicious circumstances behind the tragedy - which led to 20-year-old Ms Lennox and Donna Newell, 17, being found lying in Kildrum Road under the bridge in the early hours of Thursday, September 25.

Ms Lennox, of Braehead Road, Kildrum, died shortly after arriving at Monklands Hospital - but Donna Newell survived the fall and is currently being treated at Glasgow's Southern General where her condition is said to have stabilised since last week.

Asking for the public to come forward with information that may help the investigation, sub-divisional officer for Cumbernauld, Chief Inspector Pat Mulrooney, said that enquiries are ongoing.

"We are currently trying to ascertain details regarding the last movements of the two women," he said. "The two women were last seen by family members shortly after 8pm on Wednesday September 24 in the Kildrum area of Cumbernauld.

"The 20-year-old woman was wearing blue denim shorts, a red, black and white 'Hello Kitty' t-shirt, yellow and brown socks and black trainers.

"The 17-year-old woman was wearing a pink t-shirt with a camouflage design on the front, light blue jeans, a white and grey zipped top and white Nike trainers."

And Chief Inspector Mulrooney continued: "I would appeal to anyone who may have seen the two girls between 8pm on Wednesday, September 24, and 12.55 hours on Thursday, September 25, and may be able to help police establish the exact circumstances to come forward as a matter of urgency."

A man - who officers emphasise is a potential witness - was seen walking near Cumbernauld High School shortly before the two women were found injured, and officers are keen for him to come forward.

He is described as being in his early 20s, with a pale complexion, between 5ft 10in and 6ft, of medium build and with dyed blond spiky hair. He wore a light waterproof jacket and dark trousers.

Chief Inspector Mulrooney added: "He may have, unwittingly, seen or heard something that might help us to progress the investigation."
Anyone with information that may assist police enquiries is asked to contact Cumbernauld Police Office on (01236) 503900.
