School's out for summer!

SCHOOL'S out, but there's lots for children of all ages to do in Kilsyth and district throughout the summer.
Colzium House is the place to be every Monday until August 4 for Crafty Creatures, an event organised by North Lanarkshire Council's summer breakout programme.

Running from 10.30am till 3pm, you can go along and paint insect wind chimes, animal ba
nks, birdhouses, try making a creepy crawly door hanger, and lots more.

And on Tuesdays until August 5, Colzium House is also the venue for Weaving Wonders, where you can try weaving your own bookmark, make a colourful dream catcher, and lots more.

Children must be accompanied by an adult, but no booking for either event is required. Just drop in. For more information call (01236) 638460. Prices range from 50p to £1.50 depending on activity.

And this Friday, July 4, you can join the library Olympics at Kilsyth Library. The event is for youngsters aged eight to 12, and features crafts and activities on the Olympic theme, from 2.30 till 3.30pm.
Booking is essential as places are limited. Phone (01236) 823147.

Colzium House is again the venue for photo badges next Monday, July 7, from 11am till 3pm. No booking. Just drop in, have your photo taken and put on a metal pin badge (£1 per badge).

An event for seven to 12 years olds takes place at the Burngreen Hall on Tuesday and Wednesday, July 8 and 9, from 10am till 1pm. Called Light!, it allows youngsters to discover the magic of light in a vibrant workshop exploring shadows, projections, and illumination.

And next Thursday, July 10, there's a mini-beast walk at Dumbreck Marsh. This is suitable for children aged eight to 12, and takes place from 1.30 till 3.30pm. Find out about the weird and wonderful creatures that are all around us. Admission is free but booking is essential.
Phone (01236) 780636. Bring all clothes and suitable shoes, waterproofs in case of rain, and bug repellent and sunscreen.
