CUMBERNAULD Theatre, in association with Music Roundabout Cumbernauld's Mark Salveta, presents Cumbernauld's first music festival from Wednesday, July 2 until Saturday, July 5.
The main event on Saturday, July 5 is not only the main gig but a free fashion show in the afternoon featuring Scotland's best young designer Mark Conlin, who has dressed the likes of Amy Winehouse and KT Tunstall. Mark and a number of student design
ers will be showing off their best designs on the catwalk.

"I agreed to organise the fashion show to give talented young designers the opportunity to present their work in their own community," said Mark.

"It's great for me to be able to give something back that really support the arts – not just through music."

As Mark prepares for this fresh-faced fashion show, Cumbernauld's local talent are preparing for their performances from Thursday to Saturday nights. Local bands Brown Eye Superfly, My Sweet Jane, De Soto Firefly, The Defended, Digzys, Electric Drugstore, The Shoegazers, and Soundtrack For A Blockbuster are getting themselves ready for what is going to be a fantastic music fest to remember.

The festival also offers FREE Rock School placements for 12 lucky 10 to 14-year-old musicians that will attend three workshops and the opportunity to perform in the Rock School gig on the Friday evening.
The Rock School gives young musicians the opportunity to perform with different people and develop their musical skills. They will have the opportunity to meet notable members of the music scene in Scotland, and ask them about their careers in the music industry. During the two day workshop, each group will choose and arrange a piece of music, develop its image and style, and ultimately perform to an audience.

It's not too late for any local bands to play on either of those two nights. Bands or any local clothes designers wanting to submit sketches can get in touch through the website at www.cumbernauldartsweek.co.uk or phone Mark on 07798 870174

To reserve tickets and Rock School placements call our Box Office staff on 01236 732887.
